Did I Mention

We stayed until sunset. Tide was still ebbing at sunset, amazingly low. It was a trip to see M. standing down by the water, and glance up the beach to the height the water had been when we arrived at high tide at noon. Nine feet of difference and you could SEE it.

For what it's worth - the highs and lows of tides on the Oregon coast this weekend will span up to 13 feet. They expect record crowds at the beaches as the tides will occur during daylight hours and on a holiday weekend.

That does it. Time to learn about tides. But all the books seem to be inordinately technical... ;-)
