Ocean in View Post #980

This post is actually being written by RF, who is in Port Angeles visiting Miriam for several days. Life's vicissitudes are unfortunately leading not only to the waning of the blog but to the necessity for Miriam to leave this spectacularly lush and beautiful part of the world to return to one associated with beauty of a very different and far more austere kind for the remainder of her days.

I for one have enjoyed reading the posts from afar, and feel that the blog deserves some kind of ceremony in honor of its cessation. Finding out that this post is the 980th to be published makes me want to try to figure out some way to squeeze out another 20, so that it can celebrate post #1000, but I don't think that it's going to happen. Speaking on behalf of Miriam, I would like to thank everyone who has read or commented over the years. I also want to encourage anyone reading this to remember to keep your eyes open to the wonders of both the natural and human-constructed worlds, and to help others share in the sensations to be had.

If there is no post #981, take care. If there is a post #981, we'll see you then.

Great post!
Richard, thanks for being Miriam's amanuensis!
And of course I look forward to the next blog posts; the ones from the desert may include "ocean in view" memories refined in the Southwest light.

Thank you for this post. I check the RSS feed every morning just to see... I hope Miriam's move will bring more beauty for her to rejoice in, and the sunlit warmth of love and friendship.

Thank you for the update. So real and true.
Mir, you "milked" Port Angeles for all it was worth. Glorious times on the Strait, Pacific Ocean, Vancouver Island and our beloved orcas.
Please have your friends in the southwest keep the blog going. Miracles do happen !
Thank you for being my friend, Towhee, as we made the transition to Port Angeles.
Each time we go to Rilato Beach, you will be in our memory.
Hugs, Judy

Jim Patterson,

How nice to hear from you. But you didn't send an email address so I don't know how to reach you. Yes I am in New Mexico, let's connect if we can.

I'm an acquaintance from long ago who has followed your blog intermittently for years. I turned to it every time the insanity of the world just got too much for me as a way to remind myself of everything sane and truly good - birds, beauty, nature, books. Thank you, Miriam, for being someone who has always reminded me of what's truly important. It has meant much.

Just a note to say I am thinking about you this early morn in Seattle where it is 50 degrees and chilly enough for heat, at least for a few hours. I was sorry to learn the blog was closing down and wanted you to know I'll always think about you when we are on the peninsula, especially in PT Angeles and at Rialto Beach. I'm so glad to know you have such devoted, loving friends who are looking out for you now. Sending my best wishes that you are comfortable and receiving attentive and tender care. Sky
