Cook Strait was brimful of logs by the end of the day on Thursday. Still at the dock mid-afternoon on Friday, but set forth in the evening and is now already west of Sooke. She's headed for Putian, China (1)(2), according to the shiptracker.
It looks like a Great Circle will still take her through the Aleutians even though Putian is way south, on the Taiwan Strait. I'd love to see what track a ship leaving from southern Oregon would take, but I don't think we know where Timaru Star is anymore, or where she is going. The AIS transponder is apparently turned off, or masked from the public trackers. She could be anywhere.
