It's sure enough going to -11F on Friday night, the exaggerated number I was telling everyone but hoping against. If it's that cold, what snow there may be won't melt, right? The Guest Manager at Crestone Mountain Zen Center says there is no snow on the ground now, but maybe I better get snow chains for the rental car in case there is difficulty getting out of there on Saturday, right?

You are definitely adventurous! Stay warm!
Ummm....that's cold.
There is small chance of significant snow in Crestone this week. There is nearly a 100% chance of snow, and extreme cold, in Denver over the weekend. You will have to cross at least one mountain pass to get here from Denver. That is where you will need your chains, if you need them at all.
You might avoid encountering extreme conditions by going south, to Colorado Springs, or even Walsenburg, before you head into the mountains. South Park can be nasty in a blizzard, but so can Monument Hill between Denver and Colorado Springs.
Take it easy...

Thanks, Fred. I flew into Albuquerque rather than Denver so as not to face the four passes on 285.
