Mmm, yeah. It's unbelieveable that such country is right here. I mean, I came for the water. Vast alpine landscapes are extra. (It's also the first good photo I've taken in a really long time.)

Hope you enjoyed your hike? Gorgeous vista -- and pic.

That bare ground at the top of the centre left mountain looks like it might have had a fairly recent landslide or perhaps an avalanche. I suppose it would more likely be the former as surely some form of vegetation would have popped up since the snow melt?

I think neither landslide or avalance. Just bare rock turned to shale-y rubble by freeze-thaw action.
